CONFERENCE AGENDA
This powerful day and a half conference will present the most up-to-date and innovative information available regarding the assessment, clinical treatment, supervision and management of juvenile sexual offenders.
You will be challenged and engaged in a memorable learning experience, gain valuable knowledge of current best practices in the field, learn practical treatment and management strategies for working with youthful offenders, and explore the pivotal and unique roles of the victim, family, and community in the healing process. Directed at professional counselors, social workers, educators, law enforcement officials, victim advocates, attorneys, administrators, and policy makers; the Healing Families Conference will focus on the importance of collaboration among professionals and specialists working with this offender population.

Day 1
Full Day Seminar ( Registration begins at 8:15)
The Building Blocks to Integration: Meeting the Treatment Needs of Juvenile Sexual Offenders and their Victims.
The first day will survey the roles of professionals from varying disciplines in the healing process of the victim, the family, the offender, and the community. Consideration will be given to each phase of the justice system from initial disclosure of the offense through offender disposition; to community reintegration, aftercare and discharge.
You will have time to take advantage of the expertise of the seminar facilitators, and you will enjoy breakfast, continuous breaks , a buffet lunch, and evening hospitality reception.


Day 2
Half Day Workshops ( Registration begins at 8:15)
Six breakout workshops-ECI exclusives- provide participants with empirically based, well researched, and up-to-date interventions for assessing, treating, supervising and managing juvenile sexual offenders, victims, and their families. Participants have the opportunity to register for three workshops.

BLOCK A
Workshop 1 - The Art of Risk Assessment and Effective Juvenile Sexual Offender Management: This workshop will provide you with an overview of effective risk assessment tools and strategies utilized in the treatment and management of the juvenile sex offender population. Focus will be given to the understanding that risk assessment is a continuous and active process.

Workshop 2 - Essential Clinical Assessment Tools: The Utilization of the PPG and the ABEL Assessment in Juvenile Sexual Offender Treatment:
The utilization of the Penile Plethysmograph and the ABEL Assessment of Sexual Interest-2 will be reviewed. You will see how the findings of these clinical tools are invaluable the development and delivery of effective offender intervention strategies.

Workshop 3 - The Use of the Polygraph Assessment in the Clinical Treatment of Juvenile Sexual Offenders: This workshop will explore the utilization of the polygraph assessment in the treatment and management of juvenile sex offenders. You will review the mechanics of the polygraph examination as well as gain knowledge of the examiner’s role and qualifications appropriate for conducting the assessment.

BLOCK B
Workshop 4 - A Victim Centered Approach to Family Reunification: This workshop will explore the common relationships and victim reactions in juvenile sex offense cases. Discussion will focus on the importance of family therapy in the process of family reunification. Consideration will be given to the needs of the victim in this healing process. Before any plan of reunification is developed the victim’s needs and safety must be addressed.

Workshop 5 - Sex Offender Registration and Notification: Overview of Current Legislation & its Potential Impact on Stakeholders. This workshop will review current U.S. registration and notification laws. You will discuss the possible implications of such laws on the sex offender, the community, the victim and professional stakeholders. Consideration will be given to the exploration of interventions that may be more conducive to juvenile sex offender treatment and victim and family healing.

Workshop 6 - The Future Directions in Juvenile Sexual Offender Treatment: This workshop will provide an overview of the future in the treatment and management of juvenile sex offenders. An evaluation of the current state of empirically supported juvenile sex offender treatment will be provided, as well as, the current application and efficacy of present clinical treatment practices utilized with this adolescent offender population.
